Highlands Community, we are excited to announce our new General Manager, Tamsen Burke. Please read the note below from Pam Merkadeau, HRD Board President.

Dear Highlands Community,

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce that Tamsen K. Burke has been appointed as the new General Manager of the Highlands Recreation District, effective Monday, September 23. With over 20 years of experience in nonprofit and educational leadership, Tamsen has successfully managed teams and facilities across higher education and YMCAs. She joins us from the Student Union, Inc. at San Jose State University, where she has served as Executive Director since 2019. Tamsen holds a Masters degree in Education and Recreation Administration from East Tennessee State University and is passionate about fostering engagement and building thriving environments for her staff and community. Tamsen is an avid golfer with the Villages CC Women 9 & 18 hole leagues, and has two ‘regal and silly’ Weimaraners (Fiona Fancypants and Aurora Rose). Tamsen is excited to become part of our community and will be attending upcoming Highlands Recreation District events, as well as the HCA's the new resident ice cream social on the 29th, where she looks forward to meeting everyone. Please join me in giving a warm welcome to Tamsen Burke!
